A place to smile

Year 3 and 4

Welcome to Owls Class

Miss Schofield teaches Year 3 and 4 in the mornings who are joined by Foxes class in the afternoons where they are taught by Mrs Fell. Mrs Gawne, Mrs Blenkarn and Mrs Piper are the Teaching Assistants who continue to support in Owls Class. In Year 3 and 4 we continue to develop the children’s ability to problem solve and develop strategies to overcome different challenges. Children play an active role in their own learning and we encourage them to we work hard to become reflective and resilient learners. Throughout the year, we put a great emphasis on a positive attitude to challenge so that children learn to face it, embrace it and go for it!

What we will be learning this term

We are thoroughly looking forward to this term where will be bringing the magical world of Roald Dahl into the classroom to inspire our pupils to write their own poetry and stories. There will be plenty of opportunity to develop children’s speaking and listening skills through drama and performance. In Maths, we are continuing to teach using Big Maths and also broadening their understanding of the wider Maths Curriculum.

Homework

Weekly homework will continue to be given out every Friday and needs to be returned by the following Wednesday. This homework may include a Literacy/Topic/Numeracy task, with a real focus this term on spelling. Regular daily reading with an adult, if possible, is highly recommended at this age and we would like this to continue as it is such an important part of their learning.
